​Stigma: A mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person.​

Many times sexual abuse is addressed with a stigma attached. That stigma is often filled with blame, accusation, fear, unwritten codes of silence and isolation for those who have been victimized.

Where does one go? Who does one talk to? To whom does one confide? What does one do with what has happened to them?

One would think that the church would be a safe haven, a place where all burdens, fear, silence, and isolation can be relived.

But what happens when the abuse stems from the church? What happens when the church remains silent, both about the victimization, the repair of the breach and your pain? What happens when options for 'healing" are delivered to the offender, while those who have been victimized are made to feel that they are somehow to blame for their own abuse and victimization and the resultant discord and speculation among believers?
